CPU-1000 Expandable Boiler Control


Simple to install and understand but integrated with "Behind the Scenes" sophistication to tackle the toughest HVAC design applications. Intentionally built with both the installer and end-user in mind, the HBX CPU-1000 is a fully integrated control unit based on Indoor/Outdoor Reset Control Technology.

This intelligent controller uses a PID algorithm, that learns and adapts itself to both the external and internal environment making adjustments to the Heating or Cooling Source. Thus, optimizing comfort in an energy conscientious way.

Modular Design

The biggest principle behind the CPU-1000 is modular expandability. This allows the CPU-1000 to start with a small system but has the capability to make the control into a larger system with the expansion modules. The CPU-1000 can house up to 2 boiler stages. If you wanted to expand your boiler staging and pumping capabilities you would simply just add an expansion module (EXP-0100, EXP-0300, MOD-0100). The modules simply to connect to the side of the control or another module using a 32 pin connector (included).These expansion modules allow the CPU-1000 to get into large commercial and industrial systems.

Multiple Control Modes

The CPU-1000 accommodates for multiple application modes within the control:

Boiler Multi -Staging

Multi-stage boiler controls are ideal for commercial, industrial, and large scale residential applications. The boiler staging application can control up to 14 on/off boilers with pump sequencer and DHW capabilities.


The CPU-1000 as a mixing control allows for mixing of high temperature boiler (supply) water with lower water temperature distribution water to provide lower water temperatures for hydronic radiant designs. In the mixing application the control can stage up to 12 on/off boilers with a mixing control configuration.

Whether using pumps or valves, the main benefits are boiler protection, meeting specific water temperatures and system efficiency.


Large commercial and industrial users often choose to run independent boiler systems. When correctly applied, load change characteristics can be handled appropriately to reduce issues such as short cycling with the CPU-1000.

Dual System

The principle behind with the dual system is to manage a DHW system and a heating system and combine it into one system with one control. The CPU-1000 can operate up to 4 on/off boilers and 2 DHW boilers with pump sequencer and 2 extra set points.

Dual mixing

In dual mixing, the CPU-1000 can operate two separate hydronic mixing systems in one control, giving each independent characteristics. Dual mixing can provide up to 3 different water temperatures (2 low temperature and 1 high temperature) at the same time. This application still allows you to stage up 10 on/off boiler
